Why Even The Best Alarms Won't Keep Crooks Out Of Your Home...
(And what Police recommend we do instead)
Let’s face it.
There’s a HUGE flaw with the concept of an alarm to protect your home.
Or with video cameras…and pretty much any other way most people choose to “protect” themselves.
Guess what it is?
Well, things like that only work AFTER the damage is done.
An alarm sounds AFTER the crooks are in the house. AFTER they’ve kicked the door in. The fancy video cameras and whatever else can only show you footage AFTER somebody is in your home.
Call me old fashioned, but I think that’s a little too late.
And this is important stuff to understand, because the average home is only about 30-60 seconds away from a forced entry and a truly nightmarish situation unfolding.
Here are some pretty terrifying statistics (and some of them come direct from the FBI, so you know they’re important):
In The USA Alone, A Home Is Broken Into Every 8.5 Seconds
Around half of those break ins turn into a burglary. Others turn into something worse.
Around half of those break ins turn into a burglary. Others turn into something worse.
And according to the FBI, only just over 19% of them are ever solved.
That’s less than 1 in 5!
So, if somebody breaks into your home today and does something awful, there’s a less than 1 in 5 chance the criminals will ever be caught.
That in itself is pretty scary, but it gets worse.
Most break ins are crimes of opportunity, and it happens MUCH faster than a lot of people would expect.
The most common way is that a front door is pried open, or simply kicked until the lock breaks or the wood splinters.
The scary part about that is the timing.
It Only Takes Between 30 Seconds & A
Minute To Pry Open A Front Door
And kicking it down? It’s usually only 2 or 3 solid kicks.
How long does it take to kick a door 3 times? 10 seconds maybe?
So, we’re all just 10 seconds away from an intruder being in our home.
An even scarier part is when these things usually happen.
According to statistics, most break ins happen at between 10am and 3pm.
In broad daylight. While people are at work.
A thief walks past the house, realizes nobody is home and that there may be something valuable inside, kicks the door open, grabs the valuables and he’s gone in less than a minute.
It’s literally that fast. In fact, it’s so fast that there have been six or seven new break ins in the time it’s taken you to read this.
Bottom line, we’re in tough times right now. If somebody decides they’re going to get into your home, they’re going to get inside.
Doesn’t matter if they want your flat screen, your food, water, or toilet paper. If you make it easy for them to get in, they will.
Now, there are usually three things people say when they realize just how easy it is for a criminal to get into their house.
I call them The Big Three…
… and there are some very specific reasons why the big three won’t protect you and your family.
Number 1- “My house has an alarm system”.
And that’s great. But there’s a major issue. The alarm only sounds AFTER the home is broken into.
Even if it’s connected directly to the Police Mainframe, it seems pretty unlikely that they’ll have officers at the address within a minute or two, doesn’t it? And we’ve just seen that these crimes usually only last a minute or two.
What usually happens is that the Police show up 20 or 30 minutes later, and by then the criminals are long gone - and usually never to be found.
Oh, and guess what - once an alarm is triggered, there’s a 1 to 2-and-a-half-minute delay before the alarm hardware actually contacts the Police.
Why? In case it’s a false alarm, to save Police resources.
But during that 1- or 2-minute period, the crooks are in your home pretty much doing whatever they want.
The other issue there is that something like 99% of all alarms are classified as false alarms. Which means the Police really don’t take them too seriously.
Number 2- “I’ll just dial 911”
That’s the default option for most people. But it’s not practical for 2 very specific reasons.
First of all, most of these crimes happen in the middle of the day while people are at work. It’s hard to call 911 in the nick of time when you don’t know anything happened until several hours later.
The crimes that don’t happen during the day are mostly at night, while people are sleeping. So, the homeowner then needs to wake up, have their wits, deal with the fact that there’s an intruder in their home who may mean them harm, and somehow manage to call 911 at the same time.
Again, not practical.
And the other major reason that calling 911 is NOT the answer is the amount of time it takes for officers to arrive on the scene.
According to various statistics published, the average response time in certain cities in the USA ranges from 5 minutes in a high crime city to 12 or 13 in other areas.
And let’s be honest - those are just the published times, and they’re not necessarily accurate.
If you’ve ever actually called 911, or you don’t live in a built-up area, you’ll know it’s probably closer to 20 or 30 minutes before the cops show up.
This is WELL outside the time it usually takes for a crime like this to be completed…
… but even if it’s on the quicker side, do you want to spend 5 minutes with an intruder in your home when your life is in danger? Every single second there can mean life or death.
Number 3- “I have a gun.”
Wanting to protect yourself and your family is admirable - but unless you’re wearing some kind of quick draw holster 24/7, it’s quite likely the criminals will catch you at the wrong time.
Unless you can get to your gun inside 10 seconds and know EXACTLY where the crooks are, the gun is NOT going to protect you or stop them.
If you’re like most responsible gun owners, you probably have it locked away, especially if you have a family. Do you think you could get to the safe, get past the fingerprint sensor, get the gun loaded, and get back to the front door in less than ten seconds?
Seems unlikely… but after that point they’re already in your home.
Of course, there’s a darker side to that too. The simple fact is that the gun in your home is statistically more likely to injure you or one of your family members than it is to protect you - especially in a moment of panic and confusion.
So, What’s A Better Alternative?
Not letting them force their way in at all!
The Law Enforcement Officer below who works for the local Police Department recommends something called DoorArmor.
It’s a neat little gadget that fits between the frame and door in pretty much any home in the country and stops thieves from being able to bust it down.
It takes less than 30 minutes to install and makes your front door a whole lot more secure. You can put one on the back door too.
Here’s a quick video so you can see exactly what I mean:
See the difference?
Once the average thief realizes he’s not easily breaking the door down, he’ll move on and leave the home in peace.
There is no shortage of homes that are easy for him to break into - Door Armor makes sure yours isn’t one of them.
There’s a special deal at the moment where you get a free upgrade if you order quickly.
These gadgets are what boots-on-the-ground law enforcement officers recommend to keep the crooks out of your home for GOOD.

“Highly Recommended!!!
As a retired crime scene investigator, I’ve personally processed thousands of burglary scenes. I can attest to the fact that the preferred point of entry for burglars is a Doorway.
I looked at all sorts of security products to reinforce doors and found this one to be far superior in design and implementation. This is one amazing product!”
