How To Protect What’s Yours In The Coming Crime Spike
(Economists predict that the rise in unemployment will spark a crime wave, the likes of which we have not seen. How can you protect your home and family?)
Is the world really going to hell in a hand basket?
I don't know, but if it does, one thing is for sure. Crime will skyrocket.
If you’ve been quietly squirreling away supplies and canned goods and being PREPARED, I commend you. You made the right choice. Over the coming months those things will be VERY useful.
Something else that’ll be useful is being able to protect your home. And I’m not talking about with some kind of firearm or weapon.
They have their place - but a shotgun IN the home is not going to keep people OUT of the home. It just doesn’t work that way.
I’ll explain why in just a moment.
First, we need to talk about the crime spike. Because it’s coming - and it’ll be a real doozy.
How do I know?
Well, history is a great teacher.
Let me run some numbers by you and see what you think.
First of all, it seems pretty certain that we’re about to go into a recession. We’re either headed that way, or it already started, depending on which talking head you listen to.
Either way, it’s inevitable.
And that means crime will rise.
According to news agency Reuters, crime in the US has risen during every recession since the 1950s.
Why will crime increase?
People lose jobs in a recession. This means they stop making money.
So, they try to take yours.
There are plenty of statistics out there on how much crime spikes during a recession.
According to studies done by Georgia Tech university, for each 1% increase in unemployment, there’s an additional 14.3 violent crimes per 100,000 people in a community.
Keep that number in mind for a moment - every 1 percent increase in unemployment has a major effect on crime.
Something else that affects the crime rate is the POVERTY level.
According to that same Georgia Tech study, a 1% increase in the poverty level increases violent crimes by 23.9 per 100,000 people - and the poverty rate can increase by up to 0.7% per one percent increase in the unemployment rate.
On March 25th the President of The Federal Reserve said he believes unemployment in the US could hit THIRTY PERCENT in Quarter 2 of 2020.
In January of this year that number was 3.6%.
So, we could be seeing it increase up to TEN TIMES.
That would mean there are over a hundred million unemployed people in this country. People who need to do ANYTHING to provide for themselves and their family.
And using those numbers from Georgia Tech it would mean that violent crimes go up across the whole population by an extra 3.5 million per year.
Pretty terrifying.
Now let’s add some more stats. Even now there’s a home break-in every 8.5 seconds… and less than 1 in 5 of those crimes is ever solved.
And most of the time the crooks get in by simply kicking the front door off its hinges… or for a more stubborn door they might pry it open with a crowbar.
Most of the time they’re able to kick the door open in less than ten seconds…
… and it may take as many as 40 seconds to pry it, if it’s a tough one.
But after that, they’re IN the house.
So, what can we do?
What good are all the supplies, the cash, the food, the water…
… what good is that stuff if somebody just kicks their way into the home?
What are we supposed to do?
Well, “Keep Calm & Carry” is not a terrible motto.
"But I already own a gun..."
Can you get to your gun and do something useful with it in the ten seconds it takes to kick your door in?
Probably not. Most people can’t. Unless you’re wearing some kind of quick draw holster 24/7.
Even then, are you taking the gun into the shower or the can with you? Sleeping with it under the pillow? If you’re relying on the gun you need to have it basically in your hand all day every day.
So, it still makes more sense to stop the criminals getting in in the first place, don’t you think?
Yes, a nice lock might seem like a good idea.
But a lock is only as good as the door or the frame it’s attached to.
If your lock is stronger than your door, the door will just split, and the lock will stay put. Congrats, your fancy lock isn’t damaged… but the crooks are still in your home.
Either that, or the hinges will come out of the frame. So, the door will stay locked on one side… but it’ll still open easily once the hinges are broken.
And again, all this takes less than 10 seconds.
So, what can you do to protect yourself?
Well, why not armor plate everything and make darned sure nobody is getting in?
There’s a manufacturer named Armor Concepts who let you do just that - and it’s inexpensive and takes less than 30 minutes to fit.
This video shows how strong it makes your door. Here’s what happened when Sheriff’s deputies tried to bust open a door with their battering ram:
It Broke the Ram!
The way it works is actually really simple.
First of all, there’s a shield for your door jamb. This is the weakest part of most doors.
Then there’s a shield for the door itself to stop it falling apart when it’s attacked.
Then there’s a shield for the hinges.
And lastly there's a shield to stop people from being able to pry the door open with a crowbar when they realize they can’t knock it down.
If you imagine the average thief trying to kick his way into the house and realizing he can’t, what do you think he’ll do?
Most likely just move on to a house that’s NOT protected like yours is. After all, these people work on opportunity and speed.
Armor Concepts are having a special promotion right now where you can save a HUGE amount in these tough times.

“This could have saved a lot of pain"
As a retired crime scene investigator, I’ve personally processed thousands of burglary scenes. I can attest to the fact that the preferred point of entry for burglars is a Doorway.
I looked at all sorts of security products to reinforce doors and found this one to be far superior in design and implementation. I wish I knew about this when I was on the force!”
WHAT DO POLICE USE TO PROTECT THEIR OWN FAMILIES?
“I have a gun and know how to use it”
If I'm not home, I need to make sure that my family is safe. As a cop, I see a lot and know that I can't do anything if I'm not there.
I DIDN"T THINK IT COULD HAPPEN TO ME...
“My alarm did nothing!"
I had an alarm and cameras. All that did was show me the hood of the guys that broke into my house. I'm just glad that my family wasn't home. A friend told me about this. The install is very quick. I really wish I knew about this before .”
